Raptors, avian predators, birds of prey, oh my! See and photograph magnificent eagles, falcons, hawks, and owls in natural settings. Last year’s participants reported it was a remarkable experience simply being in such close proximity to these wonderful creatures.
Schedule
We meet on Saturday morning at 8am in the Soldiers Delight Natural Environment Area visitor center. During the first half hour I cover a number of techniques designed to maximize your photos of these raptors. After a Q&A period we spend two hours photographing eight or more species of birds.
Our photo session is controlled, but the birds are not trained. The handlers place the birds on a natural perch. It is our job to compose an image that minimizes the view of the birds’ jesses and that, more importantly, captures a good expression. I provide hands-on, in-the-field instruction on how to accomplish this. Our photo session ends at approximately 10:30am.
Included in this training session
The fee covers the morning’s hands-on photography instruction and remarkable photo opportunities. My role as lead instructor is to help you create better images and fill your portfolio, not mine. I do not photograph during this wildlife event, I teach.
My goal is to help you develop a set of skills and techniques you can use over your lifetime to create images of which you will be proud. To help reinforce the techniques we cover, I provide participants via email a follow-up professional critique of any 3 images shot during this nature session.
I designed this nature photo safari for a maximum of 10 participants. A minimum of 5 participants is required.
